About Me

I have had a love of writing from an early age. My earliest memories include a five-year-old me writing Barbie’s biography called ‘A Day in the life of Barbie’. By the time I was ten, I was making spin offs of R.L. Stine books I had read. As I headed into middle school and highschool I began writing TV pilots and screenplays, many having to do with important times throughout our history, as I had already embraced the title of ‘history nerd’. Looking back at my final draft files, there were over a hundred that I created.

My dream after graduating high school was to become a screenwriter, working with the likes of Steven Spielberg on his next big historical film. One day as I sat in my sociology class, I wondered what would have happened if Hitler had won the war, more specifically, how would that have affected everyday people? A screen play I called Nothing to Lose came from that thought. I went through nearly five drafts before it ended up in a drawer.

While I didn’t end up pursuing a career in screenwriting, opting instead for a history degree and focusing on telling the stories of real people. I didn’t pull out that script and look at it with the perspective of someone twenty years older until Covid; then, I developed The Choices We Make and its sequel, The Path We Take.

My novel’s release unexpectedly mirrors current events, blurring the line between fiction and reality, which I never expected in the 21st century.

When I am not spending my time writing and creating new worlds to explore, I work in programs and education in the Museum world. I live in the Midwest with my soccer-obsessed husband, and three fur babies.
